Oh, yes they DID!

Quick Maggie… call Aquaman!

So it appears that the WB send out a casting call for Aquaman, a live-action pilot that will shoot next year.

I’m just wondering if the WB should just change their name to “We’ll take your childhood superheroes and turn them into teen angst-fill dramas”.

So Very Wrong

We just watched our TiVoed episode of The Boondocks and all I can say is … wow. Not like “Holy shit that was amazing!” wow but like “I cannot BELIEVE THEY SAID THAT!!” kind of wow. Which I suppose was the intention, but … wow. The episode featured the trial of R. Kelly for peeing on a 14 year old. I think that says it all right there. I spent most of the show with my jaw hanging open.

Let’s all say a collective prayer that it actually stays on the air because as much as that shit ain’t right, it is hilarious and awesome and so not right that it goes back around to so, so right.

Hoooray!

In the seven decades of its existence, the FCC has never before asserted such sweeping authority. Indeed, in the past, the FCC has informed Congress that it lacked any such authority. In our view, nothing has changed to give the FCC the authority it now claims.

SAN FRANCISCO — Al Gore has a plan for luring the Internet generation back to television: make it more participatory by having viewers contribute their videos.

The former vice president, presidential candidate, and longtime champion of the Internet joined investors yesterday to announce the creation of Current, a cable TV channel that will target younger viewers with a blend of news, culture, and videos from viewers.

He said the venture was dedicated to giving young people a voice.

”We’re about empowering this generation . . . to engage in the dialogue of democracy and tell the story of what’s going on in their lives in the dominant media of our time,” said Gore, 57.

Central to their strategy is inviting Current’s viewers to supply their own video content, and helping them produce it using editing tools that Current will make available on its website.

The channel also has established a partnership with the Google search engine, which will provide twice-an-hour updates on viewers’ top Internet searches.

Gimmicky or interesting
… you make the call.

I almost died!

I just read the description of Pamela Anderson’s new sitcom and it made me want to kill myself:

Stacked is Fox’s new all-star show about the remarkably interesting and entertaining life of a bookstore owner and his friends. Gavin DeWitt is a Type “A” intellectual who owns a bookstore with his brother Stuart. Stuart is a brilliant man with many degrees but few accomplishments. Katrina runs the barista, and Gavin’s ex-wife Charlotte is insanely jealous and repressed. Owen and Allegra are their children. Owen is like his father, and Allegra is like her mother.

Skyler Dayton, played by Pamela Anderson, is the glue that holds the entire crew together with her quick wit and stunning looks. Together, the cast of Stacked brings new life to an everyday bookstore and will have everyone who watches dying to get their hands on the next bestseller.

Project Runway

In general, I’m anti-reality show. There are some reality shows that literally make me nauseous.

That said, I’m addicted to Bravo’s new reality show Project Runway. I don’t even know how to describe it in a way that captures its horrible bitchy magic, but dear god it’s great. In the first episode the gayest gay boy in gaytown made a dress out of corn! In the second, a poor lawyer with no taste who dreamed of being a designer made a TUMOR DRESS!! It’s that good people.

Wednesdays at 9 on Bravo.

(And no, I don’t work for Bravo. Tumor dress!! TUMOR DRESS!!)
