Not exactly spoilers inside, but impressions that you might not want to read if you intend to see the movie and haven’t already.

I <3 Defamer.
There’s no better way to find out that Tom Cruise may be coming down from his batshit-fucking-insanity binge than to read it there.

Cory Doctorow has a good rant on the MPAA and RIAA on BoingBoing.

Speaking of trailers, this is actually everywhere, but just in the slight chance you haven’t seen it, there was a contest to take little bits out of movies and create a trailer that seems like a different movie. The winner is absolutely brilliant.

I’ll follow up Mark’s post about a movie not everone would like with one you all should go see.
The man and I went to see March of the Penguins this weekend and it was wonderful. It was a freakin’ emotional rollercoaster (laugh, laugh, cry, laugh, cry, cry, laugh, squeal, laugh, squeal, cry, laugh etc.), but it was incredibly touching and visually gorgeous (and you can’t lose with Morgan Freeman as the narrator). I haven’t seen a movie that affected me that much in a really long time. We both left the theater shaking our heads in awe–not only at the movie’s beauty, but at the amazing story of those little guys.

With a special nod to Kimberly, I must say that this film is
NOT
for everyone. And that’s probably the understatement of the year. No, seriously — it’s worse than that. Really. Whatever you’ve heard has not been emphasized nearly enough.
Hell, I enjoyed it. :)

I had preordered the Star Wars trilogy on dvd through my favorite online retailer (even cheaper than Amazon!) and they arrived early on Saturday morning. We spent the weekend watching A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. I hadn’t seen any of the films in several years, so it was great revisiting them on dvd.
The films look great, and the sound is sooooo beautiful coming out of the home theater. I’m going to pop the bonus disc into the dvd-rom drive tonight so I can check out the bonus content, especially the Revenge of the Sith stuff.

Roger Ebert’s review is particularly scathing.

We saw three movies this weekend in Colorado, all of which I enjoyed.
1) Spiderman 2 in IMAX. The only thing that marred the movie for me was the asshat who talked through the entire thing.
2) Bourne Supremacy. This one was more action than plot when compared to the first one, but still really good. The only thing I wasn’t too thrilled about was the whole “shaky camera” thing which got a bit nauseating and annoying because you couldn’t really tell what was going on.
3) I, Robot. I liked this movie a lot, but I also haven’t read the book so there was nothing in it to offend me. After watching the movie I’m really interested in reading the book though. It was fun to walk out of this movie and see, standing in line to see the Bourne Supremacy, Mr. I’m An Asshat Because I Talked All The Way Through Spiderman And Then Said “Sucks To Be You” When You Mentioned It. I said hi to him (”Hi Mr. Talked All The Way Through Spiderman”) and he flushed and turned away. Loser.
