The apocolypse! It is nigh!!
Anil Dash is leaving New York
This is probably interesting only to hard-core bloggers (whatever that means)/Movable Type followers, but Anil Dash is leaving New York and moving to the Bay Area be closer to the Six Apart team. He also has interesting things to say about the licensing debacle (which he was somewhat responsible for).

It’s Cinco de Mayo
And you know what that means, right?
It is the two year anniversary of the squoogy.com blog.
Here is the first post ever (kind of. you get the point). Somewhat anticlimactic, but there ya go.
Whee!

A note about blogging
Very nice, especially after the big hissyfit I posted about earlier.
*don’t bother to click the post he links to (unless you want to of course). It’s the really snotty people at the gothamist being all cool and opiniony about what blogging means and how people are doing it wrong, etc.

EEEP!
So I’m reading this and I knew it was going to be bad from the title, but then the story goes on and I think it’s going to be your average dmv story and then she starts taunting the happy fun dmv ball and as I read there was a growing sense of dread surrounding my internal organs as every fiber of my being wanted to scream “Noooo!!! Don’t Do It!!!” but it was a futile urge because she didn’t stop. And it’s only part one.

So I was thinking
About blogs and such. And I was thinking about a couple of blogs that I would like to read, but can’t. And then I was wondering why, if their content and style were interesting to me, I couldn’t just read them.
That’s when I realized (As I realize this is going to be obvious, but not for the reasons you think, ok maybe they will be the reasons you think. You’re probably smarter than I am. And prettier. And have nicer teeth. I can accept that. Even though when I see that the blog “Always Right” comes up on the Recently Updated list the first thing that pops into my head is, “No, I’m always right.” and then I laugh because I am that way, but I’m not and it’s possible probable that not only will you not care what this post is about, but that you’ve already stopped reading because the whole “stream of consciousness” thing has been done like last month’s laundry (hopefully) but I’m going to stop right now so where were we? Oh yes:) that blogs that require foreknowledge and are best read from beginning to end rather than somewhere in the middle are going to be challenging for the average reader because most people don’t have the patience to pick up in the middle when it comes to the internet and blogs in particular.
There are exceptions, of course, but if I can’t keep up or can’t clue in within five or ten minutes, I generally stop trying. So if you’re going to be telling a story in a progression of posts, it might be better to order your blog first to last rather than last to first if you want people you don’t know to actually read it. Of course, feel free not to tailor your blog to my preferences. See if I care.

MetaFilter mumbo jumbo
Isn’t this what’s been mucking around with MetaFilter all along? I cannot even tell you how many times I’ve read “this post is NOT WORTHY” posts and the ensuing 100 comments to argue about the intrinsic value of a single post. It started on MeFi and then moved to MetaTalk and now they’ve already begun the discussion for AskMetafilter.
This is one of the reasons why I’m having such a goodtime at MonkeyFilter. We don’t crap all over people for an “unworthy” post. We just ignore it and move on. That way, we focus on the good stuff and stay nice.
OMG! WE PUT UP A SITE WHERE PEOPLE CAN ASK QUESTIONS, AND NOW THEY’RE FUCKING DOING IT!
HOW CAN WE FIX THIS?

Come one, come all
We’ve started a little community over at MonkeyFilter. It’s a blog, patterned off of MetaFilter for MeFi lurkers who have something to say. I think our new little community has a lot to offer and we’d love to have you.*
*Unless you want to be a jerk like “cock” and post spammy crap to the front page.
