Yesterday, Gov. Bill Ritter signed a measure into law that will allow liquor sales on Sundays. It goes into effect on July 6th, just in time for my birthday.

The law has been in place since Prohibition ended. 75 fracking years, people!

This is where I say …

YahSQUEEEE! For the record, the hubby and I will be busy on the evening of June 15th. (And since I’ve brought up our schedule, we’re busy on August 31st too.)

Found this Yoo Toobe clip adding a live-action flair to an Eddie Izzard bit about Darth Vader in the Death Star’s canteen.

Please to enjoy!

It’s become an annual tradition:

You are now 31 years old. That’s:

11,315 days

271,564 hours (as of 3:11PM UTC)

16,293,840 minutes
977,630,400 seconds

977,630,400,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 yactoseconds

Interesting Fact o’ the Day:

Also sharing your birthday:

  • 1895 - George Halas, American football player, coach, and league founder (he owned and coached the Chicago Bears. His daughter, Virginia, is the majority stakeholder in the team).
  • 1897 - Howard Johnson, American hotelier (HO-JO!)
  • 1942 - Graham Nash, American (British-born) rock musician (of Crosby, Stills, and Nash)
  • 1949 - Brent Spiner, American actor

Happy Birthday! I LOVE YOU!

Blizzard

I guess we’re having a white Christmas. It started snowing about four and a half hours ago and we’ve got about six inches … and the heaviest part of the snow storm hasn’t hit us yet. The anchor on the news just said the storm has slowed down and we’re going to get 2 feet by tomorrow morning.

Update:

Southern Denver Suburbs (i.e. where we live) could get as much as three feet. Rita is supposed to fly in tomorrow night, so everyone keep their fingers crossed. We’re thinking it should be ok because she’s not supposed to get here until 10 p.m. and inbound flights are easier than outbound.

Update 2:

Some Flickr pictures from around our house.

Update 3:

Well, all inbound flights on Frontier have been canceled for tomorrow which means we won’t be picking Rita up tomorrow. We’re on hold with Frontier right now (only 45 more minutes to go!) and hopefully we can reschedule for some time this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed for us!!

Update 4 12/21/06, 10:50 a.m.:

Here are the pictures I took a few minutes ago… about 28 hours after it started snowing. And it hasn’t stopped yet. Rita is coming, but she’s flying in on Christmas day and leaving on the 30th. We were lucky enough to get her direct flights both ways. It took an hour and a half of listening to “all lines are busy, please try again later” and then an hour and ten minutes on hold before we even got to talk to someone. Those poor people! I have to say that the woman Jim T talked to was wonderful and did everything she could to make sure it worked out for us. The latest reports say that the airport will be closed until noon on Friday. Those pictures I posted just do not convey the amount of snow that’s out there right now. I’m having a hard time parsing what I’m seeing myself. I’m glad we went shopping for food before the storm hit!

Goin’ to Mexico

[ the scene: Dropping Jim off at work so I can stare out the window at the Hybrid all day and have an excuse to drive her multiple times ]

Kimberly: Just let me know when you want to come home for lunch.

Kimberly: Not that I’ll be around. I’m going to Mexico!

Jim T: … And you could get there on two tanks of gas!!

Wanna go for a ride?

This sounds like it could be fun, depending on the level of realism that the artist used.

For the record, Kimberly WILL NOT be riding on this elevator.
