bahahhahahahahahah!!!

Yeah right. From e-wiki’s “How to Bathe a Cat” article:

Gently place the cat in the water. Talk quietly to your cat and keep a good grip on the neck/shoulders. Sometimes the cats will try to get out of the tub.

Completely in denial? Party of one?

Although I have to say, this bit from the “How to Pet a High Strung Cat” was pretty funny/accurate (for all cats):

Call your cat’s name. They will respond either by looking at you; turning an ear in your direction; pausing from current activity (such as cleaning themselves); or slowly getting up, stretching, and leaving the room.

Alright, perhaps this isn’t the most intellectual discussion to bring up on Squoogy, but what’s the deal with Sonic? All of Greater Los Angeles has one measly little Sonic, according to their restaurant locator, buried in the bowels of Anaheim. And what do I find next-closest to me in a 200 mile radius? Bakers-fucking-field. Not just one, not just two, but NINE Sonic restaurants. BAKERSFIELD, people.

I may have to break out my pen and paper and lay down some serious questions to Corporate like I did in my infamous correspondence with Cracker Barrel…

I just don’t get it

I don’t get why I’m getting over 500 comment spams a day when (due to comment moderation features) they never actually show up on the blog. They just clog up my moderation box and my email account.

I’m working on closing comments on all posts except those that are a couple weeks old. There are over 4300 posts though so it’s taking me a while. In the meantime, I’m periodically shutting the blog down when I’m in the midst of these attacks.

GRRR!!!

Holy crap, I nearly died while reading this.

For those of you who fear the coming squirrel revolution, read this in the company of a loved one.

Something named the College Access and Opportunity Act sounds like it should be a good thing, right?

One would think that it would inherently be for making college more accessable by offering more opportunities for students.

The only opportunity this bill is offering students is to pay an average of $5,500 more in interest on their loans.

House Republicans late last week introduced the College Access and Opportunity Act, legislation that will stick college graduates with higher and variable interest rates on university loans. This will load more costs onto young students, even though student debt levels have doubled in the last ten years, and are likely to rise even higher with public college tuition rates soaring — up 14 percent this past year alone.

The government helps students pay for college by allowing them to consolidate their student loans with a fixed interest rate. The College Access and Opportunity Act would force an average of $5,500 more in variable interest payments on borrowers, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service.

The Institute for America’s Future found that nearly 60 percent of borrowers that consolidate their loans are under the age of 35 and a quarter make less than $35,000 a year. Nearly 40 percent of borrowers hold off on buying a house because of student loan debt. These are the successful sons and daughters of working families — moderate and low income families that can’t afford to pay all the costs of a college education and are forced to take on debt.

DIE! DIE! DIE!

Protesting Truckers Jam Freeway

By Daryl Strickland, Times Staff Writer

A coordinated protest by truckers over fuels prices briefly closed down one major Los Angeles area freeway this morning during rush hour and slowed traffic on another.

The northbound Santa Ana Freeway reopened this morning after two truckers blocked all lanes, stalling rush-hour traffic for nearly a half-hour.

The truckers parked their rigs on the highway in Commerce about five miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. While details were sketchy, the coordinated protest supposedly occurred over high fuel costs.

Traffic began backing up shortly before 8 a.m. today, leaving commuters stuck in traffic that snaked for several miles. There were reports that similar protests were planned for other freeways in the area, and indeed, two trucks were seen crawling along the southbound Harbor Freeway at Manchester at 8:30 this morning.

One truck displayed a homemade banner tacked to the back of the cab exhorting “Down With Fuel Prices.” The trucks were trailed by two California Highway Patrol cars.

A CHP spokesman said an undisclosed number of arrests were made in the Santa Ana Freeway incident.
